VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER OF SOT – SECURITY ALARM SYSTEMS EOOD (SOT 161)

The training center was established in 2004 in compliance with the requirements of the newly adopted Law on Private Security providing for mandatory initial training of guards at SOT EOOD. In 2011, the Center was transformed into a Vocational Training Center (VTC) of SOT EOOD. On June 29, 2011 the VTC obtained a Vocational Training License Ref. No. 201112904 issued by the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training with the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria for 10 occupations. In accordance with the latest changes of the Law on Private Security, the initial training of guards should be carried out by licensed centers only. The curriculum shall include 40 lessons of mandatory training for security guard applicants under the following modules:

Legal training

Security guard rights and obligations

Citizen relations

Personal protection

First-aid

The training shall be delivered by instructors employed in the company who, being officers of the Ministry of Interior, are well experienced in guarding and operations.

The course shall end with a comprehensive final exam in theory and practice which shall be evaluated separately.

The dynamics of this activity, high criteria for selection of staff and motivating remuneration translate into a high-quality security team of young and very qualified employees of SOT EOOD.

The security officers employed in this sector of the company are aged between 23 and 37 years. Over 30% of them are university graduates and some of them have a command of foreign languages.

Besides initial training, the security officers undergo special training with a mandatory attestation examination on a yearly basis. The company also provides weekly trainings in applied martial arts and shooting.

Special consideration is given to the guards’ conduct during work, their communication skills and attitude to clients. They get the required theoretical background and practical skills to respond in critical situations, to protect clients against any abuse or criminal act, and to ensure a proper workflow in the guarded sites.

The security guards of SOT EOOD, being vigilant and precise in performing their duties, are proven professionals fostering respect and trust.

According to the requirements of the Law on Health and Safety at Work, the company is committed to arranging, planning and taking measures to ensure occupational safety, fire safety, occupational hygiene, medical care and control of compliance with standards and requirements of laws and regulations. Initial, daily and quarterly instructions on occupational and fire safety are held on a regular basis. Following consultations with the Occupational Health Service, with a written order by the employer, the officers are insured against the risk of work accidents.

 

The VTC staff consists of a director and instructors, full-time and adjunct. Its activity is governed by Rules of Procedure for the Vocational Training Center of SOT – Security Alarm Systems EOOD approved with an order by the SOT EOOD Manager.

The main objective of the center is to prepare highly qualified officers for the needs, in general, of the law-enforcement sector and, in particular, of the company.

The secondary objectives include:

– Initial training of guards

– Upskilling officers

– Preparing competitive professionals in the security sector

– Training specialists in the licensed occupations

– Issuing instructional materials and learning aids

– Promoting security guard occupation

The immediate focus of the center is to expand its training services in the licensed occupations.

The center uses the facilities intended for its purposes consisting of a lecture hall and training rooms and the available technological resources are constantly increasing. A modern training hall has been operating since February 2012 equipped with a high-technology widescreen plasma monitor that facilitates the training process. The lecture hall provides 70 seats and excellent conditions for arranging seminars, trainings and workshops in different fields.
